Before you begin

The app saves text

Mark'n Memo turns speech into text. It does not save an audio recording of your voice.

Memos are stored on your device

There is no account-based automatic sync. Use Data management in Settings to back up important memos regularly.

Speech recognition comes from your device

Supported languages, accuracy, and network requirements vary by device, Android version, and speech recognition service.

Review the terms before use

On first launch, you must agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. You can exit the app if you do not agree.

  1. Tap the large Markun on Home.If Android asks for microphone access, review and allow it to begin voice input.
  2. Say a few words, then tap the large Markun again.Your words become text and are saved in Temporary memos. If you press and hold instead, release to finish.

  4. Tap Try organizing.Tap the square beside your memo and check that it is selected.
  5. Tap the highlighted category folder button.Choose where to keep your memo. Ideas, Shopping, and Other are available on a fresh installation.

Change settings

Settings screen
Settings includes display options, data management, the tutorial, and app information.

Language, theme, and background

Choose the app language, light or dark theme, background color, and casual or business appearance. In Casual mode, turn on Dress-up mode to let Markun's outfit and home-screen effects change with the seasons.

Special outfits and seasonal messages

Dress-up mode is off by default. Turn it on for Halloween outfits on October 24–31, Christmas outfits on December 18–25, and New Year outfits on January 1–7 each year. Markun returns to the usual seasonal outfit afterward.

For New Year, the Japanese app language shows a haori outfit; all other app languages show a shared celebration outfit. Changes follow your device's local date and work offline. Casual-mode messages also change during these periods, even when Dress-up mode is off.

Memo display

Show or hide creation dates and change the memo order.

App lock

Protect settings and memo screens with the device fingerprint, face, PIN, pattern, or password. Home stays available for quick capture.

Tutorial

Open Tutorial to review the short introduction. Choose Try voice input to create a memo by speaking, organize it into a category, and try setting an alarm with the hands-on guide.

Troubleshooting

Voice input does not start
  1. If asked for microphone access, choose Allow.
  2. Open Android Settings, Apps, Mark'n Memo, Permissions, and confirm that Microphone is allowed.
  3. Close other recording or calling apps and try again.
  4. Confirm that the device speech recognition service is enabled.
Speech is not converted correctly

Move to a quiet place, use short sentences, and speak a little more slowly. Also confirm that the app language matches the language you are speaking.

An alarm or notification does not appear
  1. Confirm that Android notifications are allowed for Mark'n Memo.
  2. Check that battery saving is not severely restricting the app.
  3. If exact alarm instructions appear, check the permission in Android Settings.
  4. Confirm that the device date, time, and time zone are correct.
I want to recover a deleted memo

Open Deleted in Settings. A memo more than 30 days past its deletion date is permanently removed during the next load and cannot be recovered.

Google Play update says it is unavailable

In-app updates do not work for an app installed outside Google Play. A Google Play installation and a newer eligible version are required.

A backup file cannot be imported

Confirm that it is compatible JSON created by Mark'n Memo. General TXT and CSV files cannot be imported directly. Keep the original file unchanged and retry with a copy.

This guide does not open

Check the internet connection and browser app. Save the PDF to the device if you need an offline copy.
